On Saturday, 22 March 2025, the United Nations will again participate in ¡°Earth Hour¡±, a global initiative uniting hundreds of millions of individuals, companies, organizations and governments around the world to turn off their lights from 8:30pm to 9:30pm to focus attention on people-driven solutions to protecting the planet and building a bright, sustainable future.
Those staff leaving on Friday, 21 March, are requested to please make sure that ALL LIGHTS AND ALL OFFICE EQUIPMENT ARE TURNED OFF. It is also important that the blinds are free from obstructions, as they will all be lowered for the event.? Tying the blinds into a locked position will result in the motors burning out. Your help is critical in making this event a success!
Any staff on the premises on Saturday, 22 March are requested to exit the Secretariat before 8:00pm, as afterwards the building will be immersed in darkness and offices may not be occupied for safety reasons until the conclusion of the event.
In preparation for Earth Hour, Facilities and Commercial Activities Service and Safety and Security Service staff will be going office to office and floor to floor starting on Saturday, 22 March at 10:00am to ensure all lights, office equipment are turned off and all window blinds are lowered, refer to
