Although AI is impacting all aspects of our lives, its impact on early childhood development is largely unknown. A session organized by UNICEF and the Wharton Neuroscience Initiative aims to address this issue by focusing on the use of AI to support early childhood development, while fostering collaboration among experts to identify and fill research gaps for informed policymaking.

 

One thousand days since the ban by de facto authorities on Afghan girls from attending secondary school, over a million girls are left without access to education. Since the 18 September 2021 ban, more than 40 Afghan girls have moved to Rwanda to continue their schooling since the start of 2023.

 

2024 is the African Union's Year of Education. In line with its firm commitment to the continent, UNESCO is at the forefront of advancing learning across Africa as it strives to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all.

We know that investing in education pays off in the long run—for individuals over their entire lives and for entire societies. But we also know that when it comes to financing education, the devil is in the details: governments need to invest in education adequately, efficiently and equitably to get the most value from what they spend.
