On 24 February 2025, the Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs and United Nations Legal Counsel, Ms. Elinor Hammarskj枚ld, attended, for the first time, the opening of the plenary part of the sixty-third session of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf.聽 聽
聽In her remarks, she highlighted the crucial contribution made by the Commission to the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, which sets out the legal framework within which all activities in the oceans and seas are carried out, and paid tribute to the significant work carried out by the Members of the Commission in this regard.聽
聽She also officiated the solemn declaration by a newly elected Member of the Commission, Mr. Ahmed Er Raji.
