Millennium Fellowship update: Students making bold commitments

Conference at UN Headquarters stresses work of universities on sustainable development

In collaboration with De Montfort University (DMU),?the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) co-organized the #JoinTogether Conference?that recently took place at United Nations Headquarters in New York. This article features some of the highlights of the event in which hundreds of students were able to participate.

18 June 2018 -??On 7 June 2018, the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) initiative co-organized a conference with UNAI member institution De Montfort University (United Kingdom) that addressed ways to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.?The conference featured an emphasis on SDG 16:?Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.

ASPIRE students conduct initiative to advance SDG 3 in their local community

Forecast of the World Economy featured in new UN report

29 May 2018 - The Economic Analysis and Policy Division of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) launched this month the?World Economic Situation and Prospects as of mid-2018.

According to the study, short-term prospects for the world economy have continued to improve, the world gross product is expected to expand by at least 3.2% and the world trade growth has been accelerated.?

However there are some areas are of concern such as rising geopolitical and trade tensions as well as increased uncertainty over monetary policies in developed economies. Plus, some countries and regions face various challenges.

The relationship between these numbers and the risks for developing countries and potential impacts on the Sustainable Development Goals, are also featured in the report, which states that stronger economic growth in itself is not sufficient.
