The United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS) has established basic fire prevention principles and guidance on preparation and response to minimize the risk from fire to personnel, assets, and operations. The Designated Official for security in each UN field location is responsible for ensuring the establishment, implementation, and annual review of all fire safety plans within his/her area of responsibility.
